ABOUT CROOK OF DEVON VILLAGE HALL
Crook of Devon Village Hall is located in rural Kinross-shire, in the shadow of the beautiful Ochil hills. It serves the communities of Crook of Devon, Fossoway, and Drum, as well as surrounding villages. It is run by a group of local volunteers for the benefit of the whole community.
The village hall plays host to a variety of different groups, including a gymnastics club, yoga, and Scottish country dancing. The hall also hosts various fundraising events throughout the year, including a well-attended Burns supper and ceilidh.

The village hall also takes bookings for private parties and events and has recently developed office and meeting spaces that are available for use by local individuals and groups. The hall has also recently upgraded its kitchen to provide basic catering facilities for those using the hall.
HALL FUNDRAISING
The Crook of Devon Village Hall is heavily reliant on fundraising to support the maintenance and improvement of the hall facilities. Although the Committee can and do apply for charitable grants to support these, almost all grants require applicants to provide some funding.

If you use the Hall you will have noticed some improvements in recent years, the boiler has had a upgrade, the roof has been partially replaced and internally the kitchen and back changing rooms have had much needed a facelift and become new meeting rooms. However, there is still much to do, and to do it, we need to raise funds and apply for grants. To raise these funds we need your help.

In 2024/25 we are specifically raising funds to:
1. Repair the roof. This past winters' storms blew off slates particularly on the SW corner, so we need to repair the damage, but we also want to storm-proof the roof to reduce the likelihood of it happening again.

2. Replace our old and poorly functioning radiators, with new radiators throughout, to make the most of our new more efficient boiler, while improving the warmth of the hall while keeping our bills under control.

3. Replace our front doors with new better insulated and more energy efficient ones. This will not only reduce the drafts, improve access and security. It will importantly allow us to not have to leave the front door open all the time, which will help us keep the hall warmer for less.

4. Purchase lighter folding tables. Our current tables are very solid, so much so that they are too heavy for some users. We are therefore going to begin a process of replacing them with newer, lighter (but also robust) tables. This may take us several years but we want to make a start.

How can I help?

There are many ways you can help, you could:
-
support us by attending fundraising events,
-
volunteer to help at an event (or two), we always need help to set-up and clear-up
-
make a donation, it doesn't have to be money, we will be collecting "raffle" prizes all year, so we can run extra raffles at our fundraising events.
-
join our new 100 club launching this autumn. The 100 club will raise funds for us in a predictable way, throughout the year, and each player has a chance to win £100 each month. To find out more, email by clicking the envelope icon below.
-
Or why not consider joining our Committee. We know this might seem daunting or time-consuming, but it is also a great way to give a little back to our Community, make some new friends and/or pick-up some new skills, or share yours.
